YOGA
According to Ayurveda, the practice of Yoga, which is a spiritual
science of life, is a very important, natural, preventive measure to
ensure good health. Ayurveda and yoga are twin sister sciences. In
India, it is traditional to study Ayurveda before taking up the
practice of Yoga, because Ayurveda is the science of the body and only
when the body has become fit is the individual considered ready to
study the spiritual science of yoga.
PRANAYAM
Breathing exercises, called pranayama, are a yogic healing technique
that can bring about an extraordinary balance in the consciousness. In
practicing pranayama one experiences pure being and learns the true
meaning of peace and love. Pranayama has many healing benefits and
also affects creativity. It can bring joy and bliss into life. As with
yoga, there are different types of pranayama. Ayurveda indicates which
exercises are suitable for the different constitutional types.
TANTRA
The Sanskrit word Tantra means to expand. In Tantrism the deity is
Shiva Sakti and it is a system of practices used for spiritual
upliftment. Tantra of the human is the body, mind and soul. And
tantrism contains all the knowledge of the potential of the human body
through tapping the Kundalini energy. Mantras which are phonetic
vibrations of energy, and Yantras which are geometrical symbols
associated with mantras are the other two aspects to Tantrism. The
chakras along the spine, the raising of the kundalini energy which
rises from the bottom most chakra at the base of the spine, the
chanting of suitable mantras and use of appropriate yantra are all
healing elements which help in achieving a balancing of the body mind
and consciousness.
Ayurveda is not mysticism. It is a systematic study of the human body
mind and soul. It relies on clinical observation and feeling the pulse
to locate the imbalances of the body. By balancing the three forces of
Vata, Pitta and Kapha through the regime of diet, yoga, meditation and
medicines made entirely from natural sources, it treats people in a
holistic way.
