Hinduism appears
at first glance a strange mixture of innumerable gods and goddesses,
the highest spiritual classical literature, rituals and festivals.
Why
such a amalgam? It is important here to understand that according to
Hinduism there is only one god which is the supreme self in man.
The different gods and goddesses, the many temples, sites and
rituals are all representations of this same god and the powers and
functions of this same god. They were all conceived by man and
clothed differently and given different powers to make them real and
manifest to mankind.
