All contemporary
religions provide an understanding of three basic factors- man's
relationship with God, man's relationship with fsociety and man's
relationship to himself. In the emphasis on one or the other. We can
see the different approaches of different religions to common
problems.
While the Hindu family of religion stresses upon man's relationship
to himself, Christianity and Islam lay greater emphasis on man's
relationship to his fellow men.
Different scriptures of different religions illuminate one another.
There are different ways of stating the same truth. There are not
different religions. But there are different symbols and idioms in
which different people at different times have presented the
revelations of Himself that God has given them. Christ ( as per
Indian esoteric thought ) is not merely Jesus-but one of the
manifestations of the eternal Avatara who has changed his form and
names from the beginning of the world and so reappeared constantly
and one of whose names is Krishna.
In religion, an outer shell may contain a pantheon of god, rituals,
prayers, legends and myths but the essence of religion is the bliss
of union with god. It is the mystical or metaphysical aspect of
religion which is spiritual wisdom. And metaphysics is one global
science, whatever the local colouring
It is this profound thing in religion which is called spiritual
philosophy. |
